Founded from the business established by Orica Explosives in the Philippines in 1994, when drilling commenced with Western Mining on the Tampakan Project. The Company has evolved to become the leading provider of drilling services in the Philippines. Our philosophy is to ensure that our operations are conducted in accordance with the highest safety principals. We are regularly audited by such Clients as Anglo American and Xstrata Copper, who are totally satisfied with our commitment to safety. With over 30 track, skid mounted and man portable drills, with capacities ranging from 500 to 1800 metres diamond coring, QED can satisfy any Client need in the Philippines.
PT QED Indonesia
PT QED Indonesia (currently known as PT UPD Indonesia) was formed in 2007 to initially cater for the needs of Anglo American who required modern top head drive hydraulic heli-portable diamond drills with a depth capability of 1100 metres. PT QED Indonesia has met this challenge and is now looking to expand services in Indonesia in the specialised sector of helicopter and man portable supported operations.
Using the resources of the QED group gives PT QED immediate access to a variety of drill rigs suitable for most applications and experience in not only drilling the formations expected to be encountered, but also in managing the varied logistical and social issues that surround each project. For current and prospective clients this experience translates into core in the box - On time and hassle free.
Quest Exploration Drilling (PNG) Ltd
QED is the new name for Natdrill Limited a Company formed in late 2007 when Xstrata Copper Limited awarded a 7 rig contract at Frieda River to the QED Group. The award of this contract was based on the relationship developed between QED and Xstrata on the Tampakan deposit in southern Mindanao of the Philippines where QED currently operates 12 drill rigs on the Tampakan feasibility study. With over 40 years of experience in the drilling business in PNG, the executive and the management team of the PNG business have committed to its long term future by investing in additional rigs and equipment. With a current fleet of 16 rigs now available in the country, the PNG business is well placed to provide diamond coring services that will meet every expectation.
UPD Solomons Limited
This business is newly established and over the course of time will change its name to Quest Exploration Drilling (Solomons) Limited. Having being awarded a two rig contract with Pacific Porphyry, QED firmly believes the Solomons has untapped mineral potential. Additional contracts are being bid and our expectation is to grow a Solomon’s based business that will cater for Clients seeking a professional organisation, who understand the complexities that arise in this very exciting rediscovered mineral province.
